Click!
After a two year hiatus, I’m gonna start doing photography again. I think that some of the reasons that my first stint ended so abruptly was that I was 18 when I started the company, didn’t really have that type-A personality/business drive, and honestly didn’t enjoy the work. My perspective has changed quite a bit since that time, though, and I fully believe that my new venture will be a very good experience.
Things to do/get:
- business name
- 50 mm lens
- new business cards
- new post cards
- new website
- new client base
- personal drive to do this
- new niche of services offered
- prices
- vision
I need to build up my portfolio again, so if you know of anyone looking for photo/design work on the cheap, let me know. It would sort of be a win/win. Their work would look amazing and I would get back into the swing of things
Also, I’ve toyed around with the idea of starting a design co-op as well. Something for small business and churches without much media or marketing pieces.

Sale
I love sales. Seriously, it’s a thrill to find stuff marked down. Latest buy: GAP navy cardigan for $6.57.

Smalliva Government
- criminal offense
I found out today that spitting on the sidewalk is illegal in Lakeland. Seems a bit ridiculous to me.
Do you know of any other ridiculous laws?

Bedside Manner
I went to a doctor today and have discovered something about myself: I am funny with my pants down.
Seriously, I had both the physician and the nurse cracking up…

National Anthem (a cover)
Mike introduced me to Marvin Gaye’s cover of the National Anthem for the NBA Allstar Game in ‘84. I use the word “cover” because there is no way that Francis Scott Key ever intended the Anthem to sound this sexy.
As Mike so aptly puts it, Marvin Gaye’s voice was “sex on two legs”.
Enjoy…

R.I.P. Bernie Mac
Bernie Mac died yesterday at 2 in the morning of complications related to pneumonia. I think that his work was quite good and he many more years to contribute to society’s betterment. RIP Bernie Mac.

I’m Seeing (Texas) Stars
I am not much of a sports team fan. Individual players may excite me, but teams simply do no- unless of course, you are the Boston Red Sox. I’ve liked them since they weren’t making the playoffs and Theo Epstein wasn’t Brian Cashman Jr.
Anyway, one of the sports that I am lacking true fandom is football, especially the professional kind.
I think I may have a solution though:
The Dallas Cowboys.
You see, a considerable number of my favourite people love the Boys, and, to fit in, I think I might as well join their ranks. Yes, I am being lame and unoriginal, but at least it’s for a purpose.
The Cowboys are a good team with a bright, young future. They win–ALOT– and I cannot stand losing. Thus, by something resembling “default”, I am seeking entrance into the fellowship that is the Dallas Cowboy Fan Fraternity.
I hope to be enjoying victories for years to come. If not, well, I’m sure some of my other friends will like a winning team by then…

First Time for Everything (or how the House of Representatives just apologized for the government’s role in slavery)
If you read the extended title, then you know what this post is about. If you didn’t…
The House of Representatives have apologized–for the first time as of Tuesday, July 29–for the government’s involvement in the slavery of the African people.
“…for the first time…”
It scares me that this was the first official apology.
Welcome to the “land of the free”…
